Congratulations to Adam Smith and Regina Cork who will be celebrating their five year anniversary with the organisation next month.

Working for any company continuously for a long period a time is an amazing achievement and at Rural Lifestyle Options Australia we like to recognise the contribution of staff who have dedicated a part of their life to championing our mission of ‘Supporting a life of choice’.

As a small token of our appreciation, Adam and Regina received a certificate acknowledging their years of service, a $50 RLOA gift card which can be used at all major retailers, and a personalised letter from our Chief Executive Officer, Michelle Latailakepa.

In recognition of National Reconciliation Week, Fiona Gazzard, Melinda Jones, Raven Watson and Nicholas Power from our Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group recorded a short Acknowledgement of Country to show our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Rural Lifestyle Options Australia recognise the significance of this week and are committed to building relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures as part of our commitment to reconciliation in Australia.

National Sorry Day (26 May) can evoke many feelings and emotions, for some, it’s a day for commemoration, mourning, reflection and reconciliation. This day marks 23 years since the Bringing Them Home Report which was tabled in conjunction with the National Inquiry into the separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families and communities.

It is such an important day to remember our Stolen Generations, their descendants, communities and healing that is still ongoing. National Sorry Day is a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our nation.
