It is humbling to see our devoted team working together to ensure our wonderful participants are supported during this time.

At Rural Lifestyle Options Australia we have a true appreciation for the efforts staff make and pride ourselves on recognising those who go the extra mile for our participants and colleagues.

Earlier in the month, we introduced the ‘Heroes of COVID-19’ Special Award as a small gesture of gratitude for those who had demonstrated exceptional practice throughout this period. In order to be acknowledged, staff have been asked to nominate their peers by sending a confidential email to our Chief Executive Officer, Michelle Latailakepa.

The response from our staff has been overwhelming and we are pleased to announce that we have recognised the first seven team members to receive this coveted award. In addition to a certificate, recipients have also received a $50 RLOA Gift Card, which can be used at all major retailers.

Over the coming weeks, we will recognising more ‘Heroes of COVID-19’ within the organisation, as the challenging coronavirus situation continues to unfold. To our wonderful team, thank you again for all that you do.

Please see below an important organisation update from Michelle Latailakepa, Chief Executive Officer. I would just like to take a moment to share with you all how grateful I am of our wonderful staff during these unpredictable times.   I don't have the words that could come close to expressing my gratitude, and sincerely appreciate the efforts of our Lifestyle Support Workers who have been working tirelessly to ensure our essential support services can continue.

Our Office staff members have also shown great leadership during this time, banding together through our remote working environment, to ensure the wheels of our organisation keep turning. Our Board of Directors have also been in close contact, ensuring that we are doing all that we can to best continue on with our mission of 'Supporting a life of choice'.  As the days go on, know that we are committed to staying one step ahead of COVID-19, implementing additional safety measures to protect both our front line staff and our most vulnerable people within our Supported Independent Living arrangements.    If you are interested in learning more about how we are adapting to change in light of this pandemic, I would encourage you to visit the 'News' section of our website. (www.rloa.org.au/news)  Remember to stay positive and spread hope. A true act of goodwill always sparks another! To our wonderful team, thank you again for all that you do.
