Today, we are re-telling the inspiring story of Martin or “Marty”, who has been living in one of Rural Lifestyle Options Australia’s Supported Independent Living (SIL) arrangements since 1999.

Marty cherishes the Brisbane Broncos, Johnny Cash, and moments of laughter. We're genuinely committed to supporting him in pursuing these interests and helping him discover more of what he loves. Our focus lies in providing a nurturing space that fosters essential life skills and empowers him to achieve personal growth and accomplishments that matter to him.

ree

Marty began his supported accommodation journey with RLOA when he moved into his first home in Brayford Estate with another young gentleman he met during his supports named Gavin. The move from his respective family home to his new home allowed Marty to learn essential life skills and achieve significant personal milestones.

Marty has since moved and has been settled into his new home for some time now, thriving and achieving his goals alongside his long term housemate Terry.

ree

“Martin needs help with your basic everyday things – personal hygiene, assistance with cooking and cutting up food, he can’t do buttons or laces, all of those fine motor skills and everyday living Martin does need help and support with and RLOA helps him with that in the home." shared Martin's sister Jennifer.

"We take Martin to any Johnny Cash Tribute Show that comes around... Martin loves Johnny Cash!"

- Jennifer (Martin's Sister)
