If you have previously asked yourself “How can I receive government-subsidised Aged Care services?” Then you’re not alone…

As it is one of the most asked questions by people who are starting their Aged Care journey.

So, to begin, ask yourself “What type of care might suit you with help at home?” Once you have figured out what services and supports are available it is important to know how you can access these services through a Home Care Package.

Firstly, there is an eligibility assessment which will check for age and ability. To qualify for a Home Care Package, the individual must be 65 years of age or older (50 years of age or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people) or younger for people with a disability, dementia, or other care needs that other specialists cannot meet.

From there, eligibility is determined based on your health, current mobility, and personal circumstances such as:

  • Whether or not you need assistance getting dressed and ready for your day?

  • Do you require your meals prepared for you or assistance with eating?

  • Do you have someone else assisting you in your home?

If you have experienced a recent event, such as a fall or hospital visit, it is also included and covered due to the potential impact it may cause on your emotional and mental state.

Nevertheless, the quickest way to see if you are eligible is to use My Aged Care's eligibility checker, where you will answer a few questions and provide your Medicare number before being asked to create a My Aged Care Record. Following this, an

in-person assessment will be organised to start you on your journey to accessing a Home Care Package.

When it comes to finding the right service provider for you or a loved one, you may start to notice that some NDIS services refer to themselves as “NDIS Registered” as opposed to others who refer to themselves as “Non-Registered”. In this blog, we are going to explore the world of Registered NDIS providers, so you can understand the benefits of choosing one so that you can make an informed decision on getting the best support available for you.

Service Providers can choose to formally register themselves to the NDIS, therefore, making them NDIS Registered Providers. However, to become a registered provider it means they have gone through the process and have demonstrated that they have met the strict requirements of safety, quality and compliance set by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

So, what exactly are the benefits of using a Registered Provider, especially like Rural Lifestyle Options Australia? Here are our top three reasons!

1. Reliable, experienced support workers you can trust

Support workers within Registered Providers like Rural Lifestyle Options Australia are committed to delivering a person-centred service while focusing on the best outcome for participants. This means you get support workers with experience, capacity, and profile, meaning they can complement your needs better as they typically undergo online training, and induction, and are required to complete an NDIS Worker Screening Check before being able to work with participants.

2. You will always have support when needed

Life can sometimes get in the way, and unfortunately, that means you may not be able to get support when you need it. However, through an NDIS Registered provider, there are many local support workers to choose from that can continue to assist you with achieving your goals.

3. Plan Management services are provided

One of the biggest challenges that NDIS participants deal with is managing their plans, but with Rural Lifestyle Options Australia being an NDIS Registered Provider, it means we can offer Plan Management services that allow the process to be as easy as possible. This will enable you to stop any chances of making costly mistakes like overspending on your budget, exceeding the limits of your plan or failing to process invoices.

If you’re still unsure of the benefits of choosing an NDIS Registered Provider, then get in touch with one of our friendly Business Development Officers who can discuss with you in more detail what Rural Lifestyle Options Australia can offer to you or a loved one.
