New South Wales has entered a snap Statewide Lockdown from 5pm Saturday 14 August 2021 for at least the next 7 days.

As a result our Murwillumbah office will be closed and staff will need to work remotely.

At this stage supports will continue as they are essential.

Following the announcement of a state-wide lockdown in New South Wales, from 8pm tonight 14 August NSW border zone residents can only enter Queensland for obtaining essential goods and services that can’t reasonably be obtained in NSW.

You will only be able to enter Queensland for the essential purposes below:

  • Attend permitted work or emergency volunteering.

  • Attend school or childcare – only for children of essential workers.

  • Provide assistance, care or support to a vulnerable person or family member or visit a terminally ill relative.

  • Fulfil an obligation relating to shared parenting, child contact or contact between siblings.

  • Get a COVID-19 test or vaccination.

  • In an emergency situation.

  • For safety reasons (to avoid injury or illness, or to escape the risk of harm, including domestic violence).

  • As directed by an emergency officer.

  • To follow an exemption you have been granted by the Chief Health Officer.

You cannot enter Queensland:

  • To attend a wedding or funeral.

  • To exercise.

  • For recreational purposes, including:

  1. Holidays

  2. Spectating at professional sporting events

  3. Attending cinemas, theme parks or other tourist experiences.

If you go outside of the New South Wales border zone in New South Wales, or another hotspot, you will not be able to re-enter Queensland via road and will have to quarantine for 14 days in government arranged accommodation at your own expense when you come home by air.

Importantly, and as we ask all Queenslanders, anyone who has been in northern NSW recently should get tested immediately if they have any symptoms at all, even really mild symptoms.

Further updates will be provided on this website.

As a reminder, to prevent the spread:

🔹 Stay at home if you are sick;

🔹 If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, get tested then isolate at home until you get the results and your symptoms resolve;

🔹 If you have to leave your home, stay 1.5 metres away from other people—think two big steps;

🔹 Wash your hands with soap and water, or hand sanitiser;

🔹 Leave a location if it is crowded.

If you have any concerns about your health, or are unsure if you need to get tested or isolate, or contact 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84). Rural Lifestyle Options Australia will continue to monitor the situation and advise of any further updates.

Queensland officials have just announced that the lockdown will lift in the 11 SEQ local government areas from 4pm today.

Additional measures will remain in place for the 11 SEQ local government areas of Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Logan, Moreton Bay, Noosa, Redland City, Scenic Rim, Somerset and Sunshine Coast until 4pm on Sunday 22 August.

  • People must wear a mask at all times outside the home (including public transport) unless alone or with members of your household; eating or drinking; doing strenuous exercise or it is unsafe.

  • Schools and childcare are open.

  • In schools, masks must be worn by teachers and staff, plus students in high school.

  • You must be seated to drink or eat in cafés and restaurants, and businesses and venues are allowed one person per 4m² inside and one person per 2m² outdoors, while smaller venues up to 200m² are allowed one person per 2m² with a maximum of 50 people.

  • Private gatherings are restricted to 10 people, and up to 20 people can attend weddings and funerals. Dancing is permitted at weddings.

  • Please reconsider the need to travel outside of the previously locked-down areas.

  • Queenslanders have done a great job keeping each other safe, but the Delta strain is highly contagious, and these remaining measures are about stopping the spread.

Further updates will be provided on this website.

Our Beaudesert office will reopen on Monday and our Logan Central office will reopen Tuesday.

Queensland officials have just announced an extension to the lockdown for 11 LGAs, which will now end at 4pm on Sunday 8 August 2021.

The Ekka has also been cancelled, Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles said.

"That will make it an eight-day lockdown" he said.

"And we desperately hope that that will be sufficient for our contact tracers to get into home quarantine. It is absolutely critical that people only leave their homes for the four reasons. There's too many cars on the road in Brisbane at the moment. Too many people out and about."

Mr Miles said cancelling the Ekka would be "sad and disappointing for many, many Queenslanders".

"(But) We just can't afford to have an event like that where people travel into town, circulate in large numbers. The risk is just too great.”

Accommodation

No visitors are permitted to any RLOA Accommodation services.

This includes Supported Independent Living, Short Term and Medium-Term Accommodation. As directed by the Chief Health Medical Officer, residents can only take part in activities outside the home in line with Queensland Government restrictions (i.e. Shopping and exercise within 10km radius of their home, and must wear masks). Short Term Accommodation

RLOA’s Tree Change Short Term Accommodation site will close during the lockdown, unless required for emergency reasons and as approved by the Executive Leader Support Services. Community Access Support

Community Access Support in these LGAs is cancelled. People will continue to be supported to access medical services, attend vaccination clinics, and to obtain food and other essential supplies where requested. In-Home Support

In-Home Support services in these LGAs will continue.

Please continue to adhere to all COVID-19 measures in place and visit the Queensland Government website for more information and updates. Most importantly, please stay home if you are sick and get a COVID-19 test.

Further updates will be provided on this website.

Our Logan Central and Beaudesert offices will be closed for the remainder of this week and will reopen on Monday unless otherwise advised.
